Debian 13, codenamed "Trixie", is the latest stable release of the Debian operating system, launched in June 2025. It succeeds Debian 12 "Bookworm" and introduces updated software, enhanced hardware support, and improved security features.
This release includes modern desktop environments such as GNOME 46, KDE Plasma 6.1, and Xfce 4.18, with improved Wayland integration and performance enhancements across the board. It also includes Linux kernel 6.6, offering better support for newer processors, GPUs, and storage devices, including extended compatibility with ARM, RISC-V, and IBM POWER architectures.
Debian 13 strengthens system security with improved Secure Boot support, enhanced AppArmor profiles, and hardened default configurations. Cloud and container support has also been expanded, making "Trixie" well-suited for both servers and development environments.
Staying true to its philosophy, Debian remains a free and open source project known for its stability, reliability, and the vast number of software packages available — all maintained by a global community of contributors.
