Windows Server 2019 is the ninth release of Microsoft's Windows Server operating system, part of the Windows NT family of operating systems. It is the second version of the server operating system based on the Windows 10 platform, after Windows Server 2016. It has been on sale since October 2, 2018, and its successor is Windows Server 2022.
Windows Server 2019 Standard is compatible with cloud services such as Microsoft Azure and includes many new features, including an improved Storage Migration Service for migrating data from on-premises servers to the cloud. Many new security features have also been added, including updated Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection and virtual machine protection via Virtual TPM (Trusted Platform Module).
